As many Samsung fans heard by now, the company is preparing to release a brand-new foldable phone before the end of the year, which will join the existing Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The industry calls this mysterious third foldable phone the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, and leaks say it will be Samsung's thinnest foldable phone yet.
The public has never seen the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. However, the first alleged leaked photo featuring the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition emerged hours ago (via Android Headlines), giving us a better idea of what this new foldable phone looks like. Here it is.
Thinness is the name of the game. It's been said that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition measures 4.9mm when unfolded, and that seems to be the case judging by this first leaked photo. The phone looks just a little bit thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
A prominent camera bump and an exquisite finish
Aside from the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition's thin profile, another thing that stands out is the camera housing, which looks very prominent compared to the camera bumps on other modern Samsung phones.
It is quite unusual, but there might be a fair reason behind it, as other rumors said the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition boasts a 200MP rear-facing primary camera.
Although unseen in this photo, the phone should also feature an upgraded 5MP Under-Panel Camera embedded in the foldable screen.
Another stand-out Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition feature is the brushed metal look. However, the source can't confirm if the back panel is real brushed metal or a glass panel with a brushed metal-like finish underneath.
Likewise, it's unclear if this will be the only Special Edition color option. And if there are others, there's no info on whether or not they all have a brushed metal design or if this is a one-off, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6's Crafted Black color, which is the only one with a carbon fiber look.

Finally, the leaked photo shows that, overall, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks relatively similar to the Fold 6, except for the camera housing and thinner profile. It, too, has a flat frame and a square-ish look like the Fold 6.
The SE foldable is said to have a wider aspect ratio than the Fold 6, but it's hard to tell from this photo captured at an angle.
Unfortunately, Samsung might release the phone in limited markets, and prospective buyers in the Western Hemisphere might not get it. The Fold Special Edition might go official later this month.
