Qualcomm is gearing up for the Snapdragon Summit in November 2022 in Hawaii, where it is expected to unveil its flagship chipset for 2023, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. While all eyes will be set on the flagship processor, Qualcomm is also expected to announce more chipsets that will be used in a bunch of smartphones in late 2022 and 2023.

The fabless chipset firm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. While not many details have been officially released regarding the upcoming processor, tipster Roland Quandt has revealed some details about the upcoming chipset. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chipset (SM7475) could be called the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 (or perhaps the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1).

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 reportedly provides a 5-10% performance increase over its predecessor

As per the leaked information, the SM7475 will have a tri-cluster CPU with one prime core, three gold cores, and four silver cores. Apparently, the prime core will peak at a 2.4GHz clock speed. On the other hand, the gold cores will peak at 2.36GHz. The silver cores will be clocked at 1.8GHz. All of these core performances are similar to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.

One of the new features of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 processor will be the use of a new core design. It is likely to feature ARM's new Cortex-A715 design for the prime and gold cores. On the other hand, the silver cores could use the Cortex-A510. Overall, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC could offer a 5-10% performance uplift over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, implying it would be more efficient.

More details about the upcoming chipsets from Qualcomm will be revealed next month. It is already known that the Galaxy S23 will exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and that it could focus on power efficiency and thermal performance. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 also looks like a great fit for the Galaxy S23 FE.
