Replying to a message is one thing. Checking a document while writing that reply, or taking notes while researching something online, can quickly turn into a lot of switching between apps.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 gives those tasks more room without making you carry a separate device.
The 5.5-inch cover screen handles calls, messages, browsing and calendar checks without needing to open the phone. When a task needs more space, unfolding it reveals a 7.6-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
At 201 grams, the Fold8 is also Samsung's lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet. That keeps the weight down when you're carrying it around or holding it through a longer working session.
Multi Window lets you keep Samsung Internet open beside Samsung Notes, so you can read a webpage and write down the relevant information without leaving either app. A document alongside a conversation works much the same way: the information you're replying about stays visible.
The Fold8 supports two-way and three-way Split View with compatible apps, giving you the option to bring another app into the layout when needed.
You can also drag and drop supported content between open windows. An image from Samsung Internet can go straight into Samsung Notes, for example, rather than taking several copy-and-paste steps. Support depends on the apps and the type of content being moved.
Browsing Assist[1] in Samsung Internet can summarize longer webpages or translate their content. With the browser and your notes open together, you can keep the summary visible while putting your own notes together.
Now Brief[2] brings your schedule, reminders, weather and other personalized updates into an overview. Before a meeting or the next task, you can check what's coming up without opening several apps.
Now Nudge[3] can suggest actions based on what's on screen, such as adding a date and time from a conversation to your calendar. On the Fold8, supported actions can open the relevant app alongside that conversation in Multi Window, keeping the original message in view while you handle the next step.
The video above shows how these features work together, from researching and taking notes to keeping a conversation visible while checking your calendar.
