Samsung launched two new affordable smartphones—Galaxy A04 and Galaxy A04e—in India today. Both devices feature a stylish design as they're targeted toward the younger crowd. The Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e have been available in markets outside of India for a few months now.

Galaxy A04, Galaxy A04e features

The Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e feature a 6.5-inch PLS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and an Infinity-V notch. Both phones feature a dual-camera setup on the rear, but only the Galaxy A04 has a 50MP primary camera. The Galaxy A04e makes do with a 13MP primary camera. Both phones have a 2MP depth sensor to assist in capturing portrait images. On the front, both new phones have a 5MP selfie camera. The Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e max out at 1080p 30fps video recording using the front-facing and rear-facing cameras.

Samsung has equipped both of its new affordable phones with the MediaTek Helio P35 processor. The Galaxy A04e comes in three variants: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 3GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage. The Galaxy A04 has 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. Both phones have expandable storage, thanks to a microSD card slot, and run Android 12 out of the box. RAM can be expanded up to an additional 4GB virtually, thanks to RAM Plus.

Unfortunately, none of these phones support 5G networks. The Galaxy A04 has GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Galaxy A04e has the same connectivity options except for Wi-Fi 5, as the phone is limited to Wi-Fi b/g/n. Both devices are powered by a 5,000mAh battery and support 15W fast charging. Since they lack fingerprint readers, you'll have to rely on face recognition or a PIN/password to unlock the device.

Galaxy A04, Galaxy A04e pricing in India

The Galaxy A04 is available in Black, Copper, and Green colors. The version with 64GB storage costs INR 11,999 (around $145), while the one with 128GB storage is priced at INR 12,999 (around $157). The 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB versions of the Galaxy A04e are priced at INR 9,299 (around $112), INR 9,999 (around $121), and INR 11,499 (around $140), respectively. Buyers can get a cashback of INR 1,000 using IDFC First, Samsung Finance+, and Zest cards. The Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e will be available from Samsung.com and select retailers from December 20, 2022.

Akshay S Rao, General Manager, Mobile Business, Samsung India, said, “Galaxy A04 and Galaxy A04e carry forward the A series legacy with segment-leading features like 8GB memory with RAM Plus, high storage of up to 128GB, a massive 5000mAh battery and Face Recognition to unlock your phone. With these awesome features, the new Galaxy A04 and Galaxy A04e smartphones are targeted at consumers looking for smooth multitasking at an affordable price.
