Samsung is preparing a new entry-level smartphone to succeed the Galaxy A04, and it could be launched soon as the device has cleared various certifications. After clearing Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), the Galaxy A05 has appeared in the Google Play Console listing, confirming its specifications. The phone comes with a more powerful processor compared to its predecessor.
Galaxy A05 specifications
Some of the Galaxy A05 specifications have been revealed (via MySmartPrice), thanks to its Google Play Console listing. The device comes equipped with the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which has two ARM Cortex-A75 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz. In comparison, the Galaxy A04 has a MediaTek Helio P35 processor, which only has power-efficient Cortex-A55 CPU cores. It means the Galaxy A05 will be much faster than its predecessor. The ARM Mali-G52 GPU is also more powerful than the PowerVR GE8320 GPU used in the Galaxy A04. Despite this more powerful chipset, it is disappointing to see that it lacks 5G connectivity.
The Galaxy A05 also features 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and runs the Android 13 (likely One UI 5.1) operating system. It has an HD screen with an Infinity-U design. We expect the phone to feature a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Previous reports indicate that the Galaxy A05 features a side-mounted fingerprint reader, a dual-SIM card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.3, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A05 with the same 5,000mAh battery that's used in the Galaxy A04. And it could also feature 15W fast charging. On the rear, the phone appears to feature a dual-camera setup, and one of those cameras could use a 50MP sensor. It would be safe to expect this phone to go official before the end of this year.
