The Galaxy A12 and its snack-inspired offshoot, the Galaxy A12 Nacho, are getting a new firmware update that brings them the May 2023 security patch. As of this writing, the update is available for the Galaxy A12 in a few regions, but Nacho users seem to have more luck this time around.
Samsung is rolling out the May 2023 security patch for the Galaxy A12 (SM-A125F) in Thailand. It can be identified by firmware version A125FXXS3CWE1. At the same time, the May 2023 update is available for the Galaxy A12 Nacho (SM-A127M) in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Peru. This one carries firmware version A127MUBS9DWE1.
These updates don't seem to bring any new features to the Galaxy A12 / A12 Nacho. Security is the name of the game, and Samsung's security bulletin for May 2023 says the update fixes a total of 72 security flaws found in Samsung phones and tablets.
Galaxy A12 and A12 Nacho users in countries where the update is available can download the May 2023 security patch upon receiving the notification or by opening the Settings app on the phones, navigating to “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” If the update is not rolling out in your region, it should expand into more markets soon. You can keep an eye on our firmware section and know when that happens.
