Yesterday, Samsung started rolling out the February 2024 security update to some of its high-end phones. However, its entry-level phones aren't that lucky, and they are still getting last month's security patches. The Galaxy A13 5G and the Galaxy M13 5G are getting the January 2024 security update in some countries.
Galaxy A13 5G and Galaxy M13 5G get January 2024 security patch
A new software update is available for the Galaxy A13 5G, and it comes with firmware version A136BXXS5DXA3. The new update is available in European countries and could be released in other regions over the next few weeks. It includes the January 2024 security patch that fixes 65 security vulnerabilities discovered in Samsung's previous software version. The Galaxy M13 5G is also getting the January 2024 security patch in India, and it comes with firmware version M136BXXS6DXA1. Don't expect to see any new features with the new updates on these smartphones.
If you have a Galaxy A13 5G or the Galaxy M13 5G, and you live in the respective countries/regions mentioned above, you can now check for the new update on your device. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. Alternatively, you can find the respective firmware files in our firmware database. You can download those files and flash your phone manually using a computer running Windows OS. You would also need to be able to use the Odin tool to flash the firmware. We also recommend saving all your important data from the phone at a secure location before initiating the manual flashing process.
The Galaxy A13 5G was launched in December 2021 with Android 11 onboard. It received the Android 12 update in early 2022 and the Android 13 update in late 2022. A few weeks ago, the phone received the Android 14 update. The Galaxy M13 5G was launched in mid-2022 with Android 12 onboard, and it received the Android 13 update in late 2022. Samsung released the Android 14 update to the Galaxy M13 5G a few weeks ago.
