Galaxy A14 LTE variant gets One UI 6 (Android 14) update

Firmware

Of the many devices that have been updated with Android 14 and One UI 6, the Galaxy A14 5G was the most unexpected, as Samsung doesn't usually release major updates for budget phones so quickly. However, Samsung only released the update for the 5G variant of the Galaxy A14 and left owners of the LTE model waiting.

But that's changing today. The Android 14 update is finally out for the LTE variant of the Galaxy A14. It comes with a firmware version ending in BWK8 and includes the November 2023 security patch. It only seems to be available in one market (Kazakhstan) at this time, but it will hopefully get a wider release soon.

The Galaxy A14 and Galaxy A14 5G are the only devices that have received the Core version of One UI 6, as they come with One UI Core 5 out of the box. This means that the number of new features is considerably lower on these phones, as the Core version of One UI is designed to be a lighter version of the software for low-end smartphones.

Once Android 14 is available for the Galaxy A14 in your country, you will be able to download it over the air from the Settings » Software update menu on the phone. You can also grab the latest firmware from our archive to upgrade your phone, though you will need to use a Windows PC for this method.

If you own another Galaxy smartphone, you can check if it has received Android 14/One UI 6 in our constantly updated list. We also have a dedicated list for Galaxy A smartphones, in case you use an A-series phone.

In its early days making Android phones, Samsung was popular for throwing everything but the kitchen sink into its software. It was an approach that gained the company millions of fans, but it wasn't an approach appreciated by everyone. Samsung gradually dialled down the number of out-of-the-box functionality customers got when they purchased a Galaxy […]
