The upcoming Galaxy A16 emerged online through a BIS certificate earlier today. Unfortunately, the said BIS database entry didn't reveal anything except the phone's battery model numbers. Still, we now have more news to share, as we can now add cameras and batteries to the list of leaked Galaxy A16 specifications.
Our colleagues at GalaxyClub have been able to confirm battery and camera specs for the upcoming low-cost Galaxy A16, but if you were expecting massive changes, you might be disappointed. So far, the Galaxy A16 doesn't seem to hold any surprises.
Galaxy A16 uses the same cameras and battery
Samsung will reportedly maintain course and won't change anything about the Galaxy A16's camera and battery specifications compared to the ongoing Galaxy A15.
The Galaxy A16 will feature a triple rear-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary shooter, a 5MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro camera, which isn't all that helpful to begin with. Oh, and the selfie camera will also retain the 13MP resolution.
In regards to the Galaxy A16's battery, we learned today that Samsung might use two different batteries with different model numbers, which likely hints at two suppliers. Regardless, our GalaxyClub friends say the Galaxy A16 will use a 5,000mAh battery, just like the A15.
And if battery capacities won't improve, charging speeds likely won't, either. Chances are that the Galaxy A16's battery will top out at 25W charging.
The Galaxy A15 was one of the most popular smartphones in Europe in Q1 2024, and Samsung might be taking the “if it ain't broke, don't fix it” idiom at heart. The new model should ship with newer software, but we'll have to wait and see how else it may or may not improve compared to its predecessor(s).
Samsung hasn't said anything about the Galaxy A16 yet, but given that the Galaxy A15 was announced last December, its sequel may go on sale before the end of the year, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
