Galaxy A18 will not use an Exynos chip

Samsung recently started software development for the Galaxy A18. The phone will reportedly launch in both 4G and 5G variants. Moreover, a new report claims that neither version will use Samsung’s in-house Exynos processors, which have powered most entry-level Galaxy phones over the years.

According to a report from ZDNet Korea, Samsung has decided to use a MediaTek Dimensity processor in the 4G variant of the Galaxy A18 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the 5G variant. Both versions are expected to launch in the second half of this year, with the 4G model debuting a few months ahead of the 5G variant.

Apparently, Samsung has chosen these third-party processors over its in-house Exynos chips for the Galaxy A18 to help reduce manufacturing costs amid rising memory prices. No other specifications of the phone have been leaked so far.

Mass production of the Galaxy A18 4G is expected to begin sometime in August 2026. Samsung’s reported monthly production plan is as follows:

The company's production plan could change depending on market conditions. It recently switched to a more modern-looking Infinity-O design for the Galaxy A27's screen, so it is unlikely that it could do the same with the Galaxy A18. Perhaps we could see an Infinity-O screen on the Galaxy A19 next year.
