After the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold 4, Samsung's next smartphone in line to receive the April 2023 security patch resides at the opposite end of the price spectrum. More so, the Galaxy A22 5G is now getting the One UI Core 5.1 update.
The new software release for the Galaxy A22 5G (SM-A226B) has firmware version A226BXXU5DWC1. It's available in Nordic countries, and although One UI Core 5.1 isn't as complete as the non-core version of One UI 5.1, it does bring a few new things to the Galaxy A22 experience.
New features and improved security
Some of the additions mentioned in the official changelog are the new Battery widgets, improved multitasking, and the new dynamic weather widgets. (via GalaxyClub)
As for the April 2023 security patch, it fixes a total of 66 security flaws on Samsung phones and tablets, 55 of which are offered by Google for Android OS. The new patch also addresses security issues concerning Exynos chips, but the Galaxy A22 5G has a MediaTek SoC, so those fixes are of no concern for this device.
The One UI Core 5.1 update and April 2023 security patch should gradually reach the Galaxy A22 5G in more markets. Where it is available, Galaxy A22 users can get the update by opening the Settings app on their phones, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” Users who prefer manual updates over a PC can download official firmware files from our website.
