We are well into the new year, but Samsung has just released the pending December 2023 security update to two of its mid-range smartphones from 2021: Galaxy A22 and Galaxy A32. While the Galaxy A22 was on the August 2023 patch before the new update, the Galaxy A32 had the November 2023 security patch.

The Galaxy A22 is now getting a new security update, bearing firmware version A225FXXS8DWL1. The new update is available in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The Galaxy A32 is also getting the December 2023 security patch, and it has firmware version A325FXXS7DWL1. This update is available in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The updates aren't available in other African, Asian, European, and Latin American countries yet.
The December 2023 security patch fixes 75 security vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. The update makes the phones more secure. The new update doesn't include any new features or performance improvements, so don't expect to see any of them. These phones are also not expected to get the feature-rich Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update.
If you have a Galaxy A22 or Galaxy A32 in any of the Asian countries mentioned above, you can now check for the new software update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a computer running a Windows OS and use the Odin tool for that process.
