While Samsung's official Galaxy A27 announcement focused primarily on three key areas, several additional upgrades help it feel like a proper yearly sequel.
In a 1v1 comparison with last year's Galaxy A26, the new Galaxy A27 flexes more than three upgrades. The core formula stays largely familiar, but the differences are now clear enough that you won't confuse this model with its predecessor.
The display design alone draws a sharper line between old and new. But that's not where the story ends. Here are all the other areas of improvement. And if you want the full picture, here's how Samsung unexpectedly downgraded the Galaxy A27.
The Galaxy A27 is the first in the A2x series to adopt an Infinity-O display design.
In practice, that means a circular selfie camera cutout replaced the U-shaped one, modernizing the aesthetics and providing a more immersive viewing experience similar to what you already see on pricier Galaxy phones.
The A27's triple camera setup sits inside a more refined housing, but the bigger visual upgrade comes from noticeably thinner bezels around the new Infinity-O display.
In areas where the Galaxy A26 measured 3.5mm, the Galaxy A27 brings that down to 2.1mm. In bezel terms, that's a significant reduction that contributes to giving the A27 a more refined look.
The Galaxy A27 ships with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 across all regions, bringing a more consistent performance profile compared to the A26.
The latter shipped globally with the Exynos 1380, while select markets received the less capable Exynos 1280.
The Galaxy A27's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip is better, but of course, performance gains are more significant when you compare the chip with the lesser Exynos 1280.
Samsung also claims memory is up to 50% faster.
Last but not least, the Galaxy A27 introduces a new 12MP selfie camera. The A26 offered a 13MP sensor, but resolution alone doesn't tell the full story.
The new sensor is an upgrade, focusing on improved HDR processing, better detail, more accurate colors, and a wider brightness range.
If you're interested in replacing your Galaxy A26, Samsung scheduled the Galaxy A27 to debut on July 3 in select markets. Trade-in offers are to be determined.
Galaxy A27 colors include black, blue, light green, and light pink, but availability may differ by region.
