Samsung's upcoming mid-range phones are getting decent upgrades. On top of more powerful processors, improved front-facing cameras, and a slightly new design, the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy a56 will also gain faster wired charging.

Galaxy A36 to get 45W fast charging, just like Galaxy A56

A few weeks after the launch of the Galaxy S25, Samsung will likely unveil the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56. Both phones were certified (via MySmartPrice) by TUV Rheinland, and the documents reveal that all the variants of the devices will charge at 10V and 4.5A (resulting in 45W charging).

The variants of the Galaxy A36 certified by TUV Rheinland are listed below.

  • SM-A366B (Europe)
  • SM-A336B/DS (Europe Dual-SIM)
  • SM-A366E (Asia)
  • SM-A366E/DS (Asia Dual-SIM)
  • SM-A366U (USA Carrier-Locked)
  • SM-A366U1 (USA Unlocked)
  • SM-A366W (Canada)
  • SM-S366V
  • SM-A3660 (China, Hong Kong)

This isn't the first time Samsung has brought 45W fast charging to a mid-range phone. Some Galaxy C, Galaxy F, and Galaxy M series already have 45W fast charging. However, those devices have only been launched in some Asian and Latin American markets.

With the launch of the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56, Samsung's 45W fast charging on mid-range phones will reach many more people as Galaxy A series devices are launched globally.

The Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56 have a similar design, featuring a big Super AMOLED screen, a ‘Key Island' design on the right side, and a vertically aligned triple-camera setup on the rear. The Galaxy A36 will have thicker bezels than the Galaxy A56.

They will run Android 15-based One UI 7 software out of the box. Looking at Samsung's track record with recent affordable smartphones, the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56 could get six major Android OS (One UI) updates.

You can watch some new features introduced with One UI 7.0 in the video below.

The Galaxy A36 will use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, at least 6GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage. The Galaxy A56 will use a newer and more powerful processor, the Exynos 1580.

While both chips have octa-core CPUs with four high-performance cores, the ones inside the Exynos 1580 are a lot more powerful. The GPU inside the Exynos 1580 is also more powerful than the one inside the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3.

Both phones will have a 50MP primary rear camera and a 12MP front-facing camera. Both phones could have 5G, GNSS, Bluetooth 5.3 or 5.4, NFC, a USB Type-C port, stereo speakers, an IP67 rating, and a 5,000mAh battery.
