While we are really excited about the Galaxy S25, it isn't the only phone that Samsung will launch this year. The company will launch several mid-range phones, including the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56. While the Galaxy A56 might not make it to the USA, the Galaxy A36 will, and it will use a Samsung-made Snapdragon chip.
Galaxy A36's USA variant uses Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip
The USA-bound variant of the Galaxy A36 was spotted in Geekbench's database earlier today. The phone entered the database a couple of days ago with model number SM-A366U. It appears to be running Android 15 (One UI 7) and using the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor with 6GB of RAM.
The global variant of the Galaxy A36 (SM-A366B) also uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is an octa-core chip fabricated on Samsung Foundry's 4nm process node (4LPX). It has four Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores running at 1.8GHz. It features the Adreno 710 GPU and supports dual-channel 16-bit LPDDR4X or LPDDR5 RAM.
The system-on-chip supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, and multiple Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) constellations like BDS, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, NavIC, and QZSS. It supports up to 108MP camera sensors and 4K 30fps video recording.
In the Geekbench (version 6.3) test, the Galaxy A36 scored 967 points in the single-core test and 2,750 points in the multi-core test.
Looking at the benchmark scores of other phones using this chipset, it appears that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3's performance will be similar to the Exynos 1380 used in the Galaxy A35, which means the Galaxy A36 won't bring any performance improvements.
There will be battery life improvements, though, as the Exynos 1380 uses a 5nm fabrication process, while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 uses a 4nm fabrication process.

Overall, the Galaxy A36 will likely be a good mid-range phone. It has a big OLED screen with a high refresh rate, a decently powerful chip for a mid-range phone, and a big battery with 25W fast charging. It will run Android 15 out of the box and get six major Android OS updates.
