Samsung is releasing the Android 12 update to more devices with each passing day. A few days ago, the Galaxy A42, Galaxy 52, Galaxy A52 5G, Galaxy A52s 5G, and the Galaxy A72 received the Android 12 update. Now, the Galaxy A42 5G has started getting the update on Verizon and other carrier networks in the US.

The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update for the carrier-locked model of the Galaxy A42 5G (SM-A426U) bears firmware version A426USQS3BUL8. The update is available on Comcast's and Verizon's networks in the US, and it brings the December 2021 security patch. If you are a Galaxy A42 5G user in the US, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the latest Galaxy A42 5G firmware from our database and flash it manually.

The South Korean firm had launched the Galaxy A42 5G in late 2020 with Android 10-based One UI 2.5. The company released the Android 11 update to the Galaxy A42 5G in March 2021. The smartphone will get at least one more Android OS update in the future.

Galaxy A42 5G Android 12 update features

The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update brings a refreshed UI design with bigger sliders, the Color Palette feature, new widget styling, and more customizable widgets. It also brings improved AoD and Dark Mode. Samsung has also improved all the stock apps, including My Files, Samsung Keyboard, and Samsung Internet. AR Emoji, Bixby, and Bixby Routines have received more features and options.

The Device Care section has seen a facelift. Samsung has also added quick setting toggles to control camera and microphone access across the system. There are privacy indicators to notify you when an app uses your phone's camera or microphone. The phone can notify you when any app accesses clipboard information. You can also offer approximate location data instead of accurate location data for better privacy.

Samsung Keyboard brings animated emoji pairs, more stickers, and Grammarly-powered writing assistance. The new camera has a simpler UI design, and the video recording starts as soon as you touch the shutter button. Photo and video editors have received new features as well. Samsung has also added additional Accessibility features.
