Samsung has already released the February 2022 security update to various high-end and mid-range devices, but the Galaxy A42 is not as lucky. The mid-range smartphone is now getting last month's security update, and even that is limited to certain markets.
The latest software update for the Galaxy A42 5G comes with firmware version A426BXXU3CVA9 and includes the January 2022 security patch that fixes dozens of privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. Samsung has released this update in 13 markets listed below.

If you are a Galaxy A42 user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the new software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware from our firmware section and flash it manually.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy A42 last year with Android 11-based One UI 3 out of the box. The smartphone has already started getting the Android 12 update in a few markets.
