Original story follows
We told you a few months ago that the Galaxy A42 5G is in the works, and we’ve seen plenty of leaks about the device since then. Now, Samsung has made it official as its fourth mid-range 5G-enabled smartphone, following the launch of the Galaxy A71 5G and A51 5G earlier this year.
While the Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A41 were both compact offerings, the Galaxy A42 5G is anything but thanks to its 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display. Samsung is touting super-fast downloading and streaming over 5G networks, so we’re assuming the large screen was to make sure customers can get the best gaming and video watching experience.
Samsung has also refreshed the design of the rear panel. It’s now divided into four differently colored sections, almost like a country’s flag, and the quad cameras are arranged in a square instead of an L-shaped pattern that we saw on Samsung’s recent mid-range phones. The camera specs haven’t been revealed yet, but according to a recent leak, a 48MP main camera and a 5MP depth sensor should be part of the setup.
We will also need to turn to those leaks for other specs of the Galaxy A42 5G, as Samsung says the complete details will only be revealed later this year as we move closer to the phone’s launch. Thankfully, quite a few details are available: The A42 5G is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 690 processor with at least 4GB of RAM, and the battery capacity is rumored to be 5,000 mAh. It should have 128GB of storage, though a 64GB variant might be available as well.
While pricing and availability details are not available right now, we can expect the A42 5G to cost less than the Galaxy A51 5G whenever it hits retail shelves. We’ll let you know Samsung tells us more about the device, so stay tuned.
