Samsung has pushed out a new software update for the Galaxy A50 in India today. In addition to the security patch for the month of August, the update brings improvements to the performance of the fingerprint sensor and also installs Snapchat for some reason. It also improves the battery charging algorithm and the overall stability of the phone.
According to reports from Galaxy A50 owners in the Samsung Members community, fingerprint recognition has become noticeably faster after the latest update. The last time Samsung improved the optical fingerprint sensor's performance on the A50 was all the way back in April, so we're assuming it's not simply the placebo effect doing its thing. However, users are recommended to delete their saved fingerprints and register their fingers again to see the performance benefit.
The update sports software version A505FDDU2ASH3 and is a 320 MB download over the air. You can update your device by opening the Settings app, navigating to Software update, and selecting the Download and install option. Another way you can put your phone on the latest software is by downloading the relevant firmware from our firmware database and flashing it on the phone using a Windows PC.
