The Galaxy A51 5G has started getting the One UI 5.1 update in the US. It could be the phone's last major software update as it was launched with Android 10 onboard and has already received three major Android OS updates. The new update is now rolling out to the carrier-locked version of the smartphone.
The carrier-locked version of the Galaxy A51 5G (SM-A516U) is getting the One UI 5.1 update with firmware version A516USQUBGWC1 in the US. Right now, the update is available on Metro PCS's network and could expand to more carriers within the next few days. The update also brings the March 2023 security patch to the device to fix over 50 security vulnerabilities. You can install the One UI 5.1 update on your Galaxy A51 5G by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install.

The One UI 5.1 update brings a more powerful search in the stock Gallery app, allowing you to search for more than one person or subject simultaneously. You can even search for people without tagging their names; tap their faces in an image. The Gallery app also brings enhanced image remastering and Shared Family Album (up to 5GB). You can view and edit EXIF information of images and videos by swiping them up.
For multitasking, you can minimize or maximize an app's window by dragging its corners. When opening apps in the split-screen multitasking mode, the phone shows the most frequently-used apps first to make the process faster. Modes And Routines has received more features and options, including the ability to change the wallpaper based on the Mode. Font style, Quick Share, ringtone, and Touch Sensitivity settings can also be changed based on conditions.
The Weather app displays the most important information, including the hourly precipitation graph, towards the top of the screen. It also has a new Dynamic Weather widget that can be added to the home screen. Samsung Internet now has a combined search for bookmarks and browsing history. Websites browsed on your Galaxy A51 5G using Samsung Internet can be accessed on a paired Windows PC using the Windows Phone Link app.
The new battery widget displays the battery charge levels of the smartphone and its connected accessories. One UI 5.1 brings search suggestions in the Settings app. You can also set the folder where you want all your screenshots to be saved.
