The Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71, Samsung's first mid-range phones in its 2020 Galaxy A lineup, will be hitting retail shelves in European markets at the end of this month. Samsung has announced pricing for the two phones in the Netherlands – the Galaxy A51 will cost €369 and the Galaxy A71 will cost €469.
While the Galaxy A51's launch price is just €10 higher than the Galaxy A50's, the Galaxy A71's is priced €60 more than the Galaxy A70 was at launch. Other European markets, such as Germany, are likely to see similar price tags, but Samsung is yet to reveal that information for other countries in the continent.
The Galaxy A51 will be available in the Netherlands in Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White and Prism Crush Blue color options, while the Galaxy A71 will be sold in Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Silver and Prism Crush Blue.
Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 features
The Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 have a number of attractive features, starting with the quad rear camera setup that includes ultra-wide and macro sensors, in addition to 48MP and 64MP primary cameras on the A51 and A71 respectively. We found the quality of pictures from the macro camera to be pretty good when we went hands-on with the Galaxy A51, and Samsung also released a few official samples recently to show what the macro camera is capable of.
The A51 and A71 also come with 6.5-inch and 6.7-inch Infinity-O displays, which have centered punch holes that hold a 32-megapixel camera for selfies. Powering those displays is a 4,500 mAh battery with 25W fast charging on the A71 and a 4,000 mAh battery with 15W charging on the A51. The A51 has Samsung's octa-core Exynos 9611 SoC under the hood while the A71 is powered by the Snapdragon 730.
These new A series phones come with Android 10 out of the box, along with version 2.0 of Samsung's One UI skin. Other specs include 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage for the A51 and 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of storage for the A71, a microSD slot, and optical in-display fingerprint sensors. Headphone jacks are present on both phones, for those wondering.
