Samsung is now turning its attention to updating older smartphones with Android 12, and the Galaxy A51 fits that description perfectly. The latter device was one of Samsung's absolute best-selling phones of 2020 — or at least the best-selling phone in Q1 2020. Millions of Samsung customers who happen to own the Galaxy A51 can now finally leave Android 11 behind and upgrade to Android 12 and One UI 4.1.
As usual, Samsung's new firmware update is limited to a few regions, but availability should expand gradually to more markets. For now, Galaxy A51 customers can download the firmware in Vietnam, the UAE, and Russia.
Likewise, the latest firmware update is available only for the Galaxy A51 LTE, but the 5G version should also get the same Android 12 treatment at some point in the future.
The Galaxy A51 update carries firmware version A51xxXXU5FVC2. You will get a notification on your phone once the update is available for download, but you can also try to trigger the process from the “Settings” app on your Samsung phone by accessing the “Software update” option in the “About phone” menu. Or you can skip the wait and download the update from the firmware section on our website and install it manually on your device using the official Odin tool.
One UI 4.1 is a pretty big deal, even for the Galaxy A51, the latter of which won't receive any new camera features pulled from the Galaxy S22 flagship series. Nevertheless, the UI design is improved, and there are more personalization options available, among other new features and improvements. After all, the phone is not only getting One UI 4.1, but also a new version of Android (12).
