Samsung will soon release the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy A53, Galaxy A54, and the Galaxy S21 FE. This move will expand the reach of the latest version of One UI to several millions of smartphones.
The company has already released the update to several high-end phones, including the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Galaxy A53, A54, and S21 FE could get One UI 6.1 update on May 14
It is reported by X user @theonecid that Samsung will release the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy A53, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy S21 FE in Canada on May 14. Depending on the carrier and country, other markets could get the update sooner or later. For example, Europe gets access to updates faster than Canada, and so does Asia.
The company could then release the update to even lower-end or older mid-range phones.
What's new with One UI 6.1?
You can watch the video below to know which features One UI 6.1 brings to Galaxy devices. However, none of the AI features (maybe except for Circle to Search) are expected on mid-range and budget smartphones and tablets.
The One UI 6.1 update brings custom stickers (with effects), improved search in the Gallery app, an easier way to change video playback speed in the built-in video player, wallpaper effects and frames, and new lockscreen widgets. It lets users customize alarm alerts, customize calendar entries with more stickers, and add reminder category icons.
It also lets users turn Modes on or off from the home screen, reorder Modes, and create new Routine conditions. One UI 6.1 also brings the new Quick Share and the Samsung Find app. It supports Bluetooth Auracast and can sync tab groups with other Galaxy devices signed in with the same Samsung Account.
Samsung Cloud now has enhanced data protection, and Samsung Wallet supports Passkeys with One UI 6.1. Samsung Health has more daily target options, improved cycle tracking, and an enhanced exercise experience. Video Call Effects can now be accessed faster, while the Weather widget offers more information.
Voice input can now be done without leaving the keyboard. A new button in One UI 6.1 lets you open all minimized apps simultaneously. In the Finder menu, you can also find search results from Google. There are more battery protection options. The lock screen clock widget also gets more font and placement options.
