Galaxy A53 bags May 2023 security update in the US

Samsung has released its latest security update to the Galaxy A53 5G in the US. Both carrier-locked and unlocked models of the smartphone have started getting the May 2023 security update on some carrier networks. Most other carriers are expected to release the new update within the next few days.

The latest software update for the Galaxy A53 5G comes with firmware version A536USQS5CWD4 for the carrier-locked version and A536U1UES5CWE2 for the unlocked version. Dish Wireless is the first carrier network in the US to release the update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy A53 5G. The May 2023 security patch included in the new software fixes over 70 security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy phones.

Galaxy A53 5G May 2023 security update: How to install?

If you have a Galaxy A53 5G and if you live in the US, you can now check for the May 2203 security update on your device. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also try the manual flashing process by downloading the appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flashing it using Samsung's Odin tool and a Windows PC.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A53 5G in early 2021 with Android 12 onboard. The smartphone received the Android 13-based One UI 5 update in late 2022 and the One UI 5.1 update earlier this year. Later this year, the phone will get the Android 14-based One UI 6 update.
