Samsung has released the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A53 in Europe. The update was also released in some Asian countries a few days ago. In the next few days, Galaxy A53 units in other regions will also be able to access the same update.
Galaxy A53 gets One UI 6.1 update with dozens of new features
The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A53 is now available in Europe with firmware version A536BXXU9EXDC. It has a download size of around 2.2GB, so it is better to download the update via a Wi-Fi network if you don't want to deplete your monthly cellular data limit. The update doesn't bring the May 2024 security patch, though.
If you have a Galax A53 and live in Europe, you should check for the new One UI update now. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install. Once the new firmware file is available in our firmware database, you can flash it manually if you have access to a computer running Windows OS and the Odin tool.
Galaxy A53 One UI 6.1 features
The One UI 6.1 update improves image and video editing on the Galaxy A53. For example, you can copy an object or a subject from one image in the Gallery app and paste it into another from the clipboard. It also offers improved image clipping so that you can use clipped objects as stickers. The update doesn't bring any Galaxy AI features seen on the Galaxy S24 to the Galaxy A53, though.
Search quality within the Gallery app has improved. You can export video editing projects from your Galaxy A53 to another Galaxy device and continue editing there. Our video below shows most of these important new One UI 6.1 features.
You can decorate the home screen and lock screen wallpapers with effects and frames. One such effect is the portrait mode, which works with images with a person or a pet. One UI 6.1 also brings new widgets that can be used on the lock screen. You can customize alarms using AR emojis, images, and videos. You can even change where the information appears during an alarm.
Alerts from the Reminders app can also be customized. For full-screen alerts, you can choose a custom color or background. Reminder categories can be customized through icons, and you can pin categories to the top for easier access.
You can reorder Modes, turn off/on Modes from the home screen, and use more conditions (alarm or Smart View) in Routines. An accessibility feature called Relumino Outline has been added, inspired by Samsung's TVs.
One UI 6.1 also brings the new Quick Share feature (merged with Google's Nearby Share). The Samsung Find app can be used to locate lost or stolen devices. The same app can also be used to share your location with family and friends, share location trackers with them, and get the location of family and friends.
Samsung Internet's web browser tab groups are synced to other Galaxy devices signed in using the same Samsung account. Data in Samsung Cloud is now protected using end-to-end encryption. Samsung Wallet in One UI 6.1 supports passkeys.
One UI 6.1 allows you to compete with your previous records in Samsung Health. The improved app allows you to set custom targets for daily activity. Female health tracking now supports adding physical symptoms and moods.
Quick setting toggles can be used to change microphone modes and video call effects. The widget from the stock Weather app now shows more forecast information. Text can be entered using voice dictation without hiding the Samsung Keyboard.
On your Galaxy A53 running One UI 6.1, you can open all minimized apps at once. Finder shows matching search results from the internet via Google Search. One UI 6.1 also brings more battery health protection options. This update also brings regional LTE TDD band support in Europe.
