Samsung has released the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A53. This major update brings dozens of new features to the mid-range smartphone. In the next few days, this software update will be released to the Galaxy A53 in many other countries and regions.
Let us have a look at the details of the update.
Galaxy A53 gets One UI 6.1 update, starting with Asia
The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A53 comes bearing firmware version A536EXXU9EXDE and is currently available in Indonesia and Singapore. It also brings the April 2024 security patch, upgrading the phone from the March 2024 security patch. It is a relatively big update, so we advise downloading it via a Wi-Fi network.
If you have a Galaxy A53 and live in Indonesia, you should check for the new update on your phone. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download the new firmware from our database and flash it using a computer running Windows OS and the Odin tool.
What's new with the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A53?
While One UI 6.1 brings dozens of new features to the Galaxy A53, it has no Galaxy AI features on the Galaxy S24 and other high-end phones. This new software allows you to copy an object or a subject from one image and paste it into another. Image clipping and searching within the Gallery app have also been improved.
While editing videos using the built-in video editor, you can change the playback speed of the entire video or its certain parts. You can export video editing projects from Samsung Studio (earlier called Video Editor) to other Galaxy phones or tablets and continue editing there.
You can watch these features (along with Galaxy AI features not available on Galaxy A53) in our video below.
You can now apply frames and effects on your phone's wallpaper. For example, you can apply a depth-of-field (Portrait Effect) on wallpapers containing people or pets. The Galaxy A53 has also received many new lock screen widgets from Samsung's stock apps. You also get the option to use custom fonts for the lock screen clock widget.
You can customize alerts for alarms (AR Emoji, image, or video) and reminders. You can use custom backgrounds or colors for these customizations for alarms and reminders.
The settings section in the Calendar app has been revamped. In the Calendar app, you can use up to two custom stickers to decorate each day. You can choose an icon to customize each reminder category in the Reminders app. You can also pin a reminder category for easier access.
You can reorder Modes, turn off/on Modes from the home screen, and use new conditions (Alarm and Smart View) for Routines. Samsung has added the Relumino Outline feature to improve accessibility for those with vision impairments.
One UI 6.1 also brings the new Quick Share feature to the Galaxy A53. Using the Samsung Find app, you can locate your devices or family/friends. You can share your location with others using the same app. You can sync web browser tab groups from Samsung Internet between devices signed into the same Samsung account.
Your data security has been enhanced thanks to end-to-end encryption in Samsung Cloud. Samsung Wallet now supports passkeys for an easier, faster, and more secure sign-in process.
With improved Samsung Health, you can compete with your past records while working out. You also have more options (active hours or floors climbed) for daily activity targets. The female health tracking has been improved, as Samsung now offers the option to add physical symptoms and moods while logging in menstrual cycle information.
Microphone mode and video effects are now easier to access through quick setting toggles during an active call. The Weather widget in One UI 6.1 shows more information. You can input text using voice dictation without hiding the Samsung Keyboard. You can also open all minimized apps at once.
The Finder section now includes matching search results from the Internet via Google Search. One UI 6.1 also adds more battery health protection options to the Galaxy A53.
