Samsung's new Galaxy A54 5G mid-range hero is getting its first firmware update, and it's not a minor one like a routine security patch. Instead, Samsung claims that the very-first update for the Galaxy A54 5G somehow improves the already impressive camera.
The update is rolling out for the international Galaxy A54, carrying model number SM-A546B. The new firmware can be identified by version A546BXXU1AWC4. It doesn't include a new security patch, so it ships with the February 2023 patch.
It's unclear how the Galaxy A54's camera was improved through this first firmware update. The camera experience is already surprisingly good, boasting OIS and flagship-grade autofocus capabilities. Check out our Galaxy A54 review for a more in-depth explanation.
The official changelog (in Dutch via GalaxyClub) also mentions that several apps may be updated through this new release, including AR-Zone, Samsung Notes, Clock, Wearable, Global Goals, Kids, Free, Internet, Health, SmartThings, Galaxy Shop, Samsung Members, Wallet, TV Plus, Calculator, Smart Switch, and Audio Recorder.
If you plan on buying the Galaxy A54 5G, this new update should be waiting for you once you unbox the phone. To install it, open the Settings app on the device, navigate to “Software update,” and tap “Download and install.” If you prefer manual updates over a PC, you should be able to acquire official firmware files from our website once they're available.
