Samsung's latest higher mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A72, has started getting a new software update. It improves the privacy and security aspects of the device. Right now, the new update for the Galaxy A72 is rolling out in a handful of countries, and we expect a wider rollout over the next few days.
The Galaxy A72 (SM-A725F) has started receiving this update in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. The new software, which has firmware version A725FXXU2AUF3, includes the June 2021 security patch. According to the South Korean giant, the new security patch includes fixes for 47 vulnerabilities present inside the stock Android codebase and fixes for 19 vulnerabilities found inside Samsung's own software.
If you are a Galaxy A72 user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can either wait for the OTA update to arrive or manually check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
The Galaxy A72 was unveiled in March 2021 alongside the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A52 5G. The device debuted with Android 11-based One UI 3.1, and it received the May 2021 security update with some new features, including the video call effects.
