At an event in the country's capital today, Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A8+ in the Indian market. The A8+ is priced at Rs. 32,990 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon starting today; Amazon has exclusive rights on online sales, and the release date for the device is set for January 20th. The phone will be available in black and gold. As expected, the Galaxy A8 hasn't been launched in India, owing to consumer preference for large-screen phones in the country.

Galaxy A8+ launched in India

The spec sheet for the Galaxy A8+ in India remains the same as for other markets. You get a 6-inch Full HD+ Infinity display, the Exynos 7885 octa-core processor, 64GB of internal storage, dual front cameras (16-megapixel and 8-megapixel) with support for Live Focus portrait selfies, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 3,500 mAh battery, and Android 7.1 Nougat with the latest version of Samsung's Experience UX. It's unclear if the variant launched in India has 4GB or 6GB of RAM, but we're guessing it's the former given the phone's price tag.

The phone is also water and dust resistant with an IP68 rating and supports Samsung's newest Gear VR headset (and the Gear VR controller). Samsung Pay is fully supported as well, and the A8 phones are also the first non-flagship devices in Samsung's Galaxy lineup to include Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. There's a fingerprint sensor at the back, located below the camera for easier access compared to the company's 2017 flagship devices.

Look out for our hands-on experience with the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ later this week, and let us know if you're thinking of buying the A8+ in India!
