Samsung has finally confirmed that Galaxy AI features are coming to flagship Galaxy smartphones launched in 2022 and 2021. It has also been confirmed that these devices will get One UI 6.1 starting in May.
However, there is a catch: devices launched in 2021 will get just two AI features. One will be Google Circle to Search, while the other is Magic Rewrite. Magic Rewrite likely refers to Chat Assist, the Galaxy AI feature that allows you to change the style and tone of your messages using Samsung Keyboard.
The devices launched in 2022 will get the same AI features as the Galaxy S23 FE, which is to say they will get every feature except for Instant Slo-mo. Instant Slo-mo lets you slow down any video by pressing and holding the screen and is apparently too heavy to handle for the Exynos and Snapdragon chips Samsung used in flagship devices before 2023.
According to the Samsung Korea community moderator who revealed this information, these are the 2021 and 2022 flagships that will get Galaxy AI with One UI 6.1:
- Galaxy S21 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 3
- Galaxy Z Flip 3
- Galaxy S22 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 4
- Galaxy Z Flip 4
- Galaxy Tab S8 series
As for the release date, all these devices will get One UI 6.1 sometime in early May. The early May timeline could be specific to Korea and the update might start rolling out in some markets this month, though nothing can be said for certain at this time and we will have to wait for Samsung to reveal more information about its release plans.
