Earlier this year, Samsung introduced Galaxy AI, a suite of AI-powered features that help users improve their day-to-day lives. One of those features is Live Translate, a real-time language translation tool for voice calls. Now, Galaxy AI is set to get WhatsApp call language translation as well.
Galaxy AI could bring WhatsApp call language translation with One UI 6.1.1
A few days ago, Samsung announced it would bring real-time language translation to third-party apps. Now, the feature will soon be compatible with WhatsApp, the world's most popular instant messaging and calling app. Tipster Ice Universe has revealed that WhatsApp call language translation will come to compatible Galaxy phones.
This compatibility could be announced during Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is happening on July 10. At this event, Samsung will announce the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Both those phones will run One UI 6.1.1 out of the box, and the Live Translate feature for WhatsApp voice calls could debut with the new version of One UI.
You can see how the Live Translate feature works during voice calls in our video below.
On compatible phones, the Live Translate feature works on-device, which means your data is processed locally on your phone. The data is not sent to servers, so it stays safe and private. Besides WhatsApp, Samsung could also bring that feature to Google Meet and WeChat. However, we need to wait for the official announcement.
Samsung also offers real-time language translation in stock Messages app and third-party messaging apps (including WhatsApp) on devices that feature Galaxy AI. The company also developed the Interpreter Mode for instances when conversing with people face-to-face, and it will get improvements with One UI 6.1.1.
With all these language translation features, Samsung wants to reduce language barriers and improve communication between people.
