Samsung's latest Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Ultra laptops boast new Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with touchscreen capabilities across the lineup. Although these new panels offer 400 nits of brightness, just like the Book 3 displays, they might be more suited for work outdoors.
For the first time, Samsung's Vision Booster technology is making its way across from Galaxy phones and tablets to Galaxy Book laptops. The Galaxy Book 4 series offers Vision Booster and what Samsung calls “an Intelligent Outdoor Algorithm” that automatically enhances visibility and color reproduction in bright conditions.
You can read our article dedicated to Vision Booster for more details on how it works. There's a lot going on under the hood, but in short, Vision Booster cleverly maximizes the contrast ratio to make colors appear more lively in direct sunlight or bright lighting conditions.
Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Ultra laptops are better suited for the outdoors
In addition to Vision Booster and the Intelligent Outdoor Algorithm, Samsung also says that the Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Ultra laptops benefit from anti-reflective technology.
More specifically, the panels have Corning Gorilla Glass DX, which delivers improved abrasion resistance and anti-reflective optics. This composite enhances display readability with a 75% improvement in front surface reflection versus regular glass. It also increases display contrast by 50% under the same brightness levels.
All these characteristics combined should make the Galaxy Book 4 laptops better in outdoor conditions, which is a notable perk given the nature of portable computers and the variety of lighting conditions in which they might be used.
