Samsung has unveiled its first Galaxy Book laptop with Intel's Lunar Lake CPU: Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360. It is a high-end 2-in-1 laptop with a brilliant screen, fast AI performance, plenty of ports, and long battery life. Thanks to the Lunar Lake chip's powerful onboard NPU, the laptop gets Microsoft's Copilot+ PC badge.
It runs Windows 11 with all the Copilot+ AI features.
Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 has a powerful and efficient Intel Lunar Lake chip
Just after Intel unveiled its Lunar Lake laptop CPUs, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360, which is the company's first laptop with Intel's new chips. It is a 2-in-1 laptop with a 360-degree hinge and a touchscreen, so you can rotate its screen completely and turn it into a tablet. It also comes bundled with the S Pen stylus that you can use to draw and write on the screen.
It uses the Intel Core Ultra 5 (Series 2) or the Intel Core Ultra 7 (Series 2) chip, featuring eight CPU cores (four performance cores and four efficiency cores) and eight threads. These new processors have built-in Intel Arc graphics, and Intel claims these are the most powerful integrated graphics on any Windows laptop chip. These chips also have integrated 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5X RAM, which means the memory is inside the chip, so it won't be possible to upgrade RAM after you buy the laptop.
The NPU on these chips is capable of up to 48 TOPS (40 TOPS on Core Ultra 5) of AI performance. The Copilot+ PC badge on the laptop means it will get several Microsoft features that are powered by AI. It also has Galaxy AI features like Chat Assist, Circle to Search, Live Translate, and Transcript Assist through the Windows Phone Link app.
Samsung says more than 100 creativity, gaming, and productivity apps can use the onboard NPU for faster AI performance.
The Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 has a 16-inch Touch AMOLED screen with WQXGA+ resolution, up to 120Hz variable refresh rate, a 120% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, 500 nits peak brightness, and HDR. It has two microphones and a quad-speaker stereo setup with two 3.3W tweeters and two improved 5W woofers.
The full-sized keyboard on this laptop is backlit, while its comically large trackpad is compatible with Windows Precision and related multitouch gestures. There is a 2MP ultrawide webcam on board that can track your face and supports 1080p video calls and recording.
Samsung has equipped its new laptop with Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7. It also has two Thunderbolt 4 ports (with 65W charging), one HDMI 2.1 port, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop is powered by a 76Wh battery, and Samsung claims it can last up to 25 hours of video playback on a single charge.
The Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 will be available in Canada, France, Germany, the UK, and the US starting in September. Other countries may also receive access to this laptop in the coming months. Samsung hasn't announced the pricing of its new laptop yet.
