It's only been six months since Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds Pro. The company today launched another pair of truly wireless earbuds called the Galaxy Buds 2. They can't really be considered a successor of the former since there are quite a few similarities.
Many of the improvements that Samsung had introduced with the Galaxy Buds Pro are present on the Galaxy Buds 2. The great thing about them is that they actually cost less than the Pro model, that's something customers will be happy about.
Galaxy Buds 2 vs Galaxy Buds Pro: Audio and call quality
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro support the Bluetooth 5.2 standard with AAC, SBC and Samsung Scalable Code. Like the Galaxy Buds Pro, they feature a dual-driver setup consisting of a woofer and tweeter. Another similarity is the three mic array with the voice pickup unit for clear calls.
Samsung's latest earbuds also use a machine learning solution to make your conversations sound clearer than ever before. This is a new feature that the Buds 2 bring to the table. Both the Buds 2 and Pro feature Active Noise Cancellation with multiple ambient sound levels to enable you to hear the surrounding environment.
Galaxy Buds 2 vs Galaxy Buds Pro: Additional features
360-degree spatial audio is one of the biggest differences between these two earbuds. This feature is available on the Galaxy Buds Pro but not on the Galaxy Buds 2. 360-degree audio provides an immersive audio experience with Dolby Head Tracking Technology.
Both earbuds are capable of seamlessly switching between Samsung devices. Game Mode can be enabled to reduce latency. If you end up losing the Galaxy Buds 2, they can also be discovered via SmartThings Find much like the Buds Pro.
Galaxy Buds 2 vs Galaxy Buds Pro: Battery life and charging
The Galaxy Buds 2 can last for up to 7.5 hours with ANC disabled and 5 hours with it enabled. When combined with the charging case, the Galaxy Buds 2 has a battery life of up to 28 hours with ANC off and up to 20 hours with ANC on.
The Galaxy Buds Pro can last up to 8 hours (5 hours with ANC turned on) on a single charge, with the case providing an additional up to 20 hours of battery juice (13 hours with ANC turned on).
It goes without saying that the Galaxy Buds Pro are the best earbuds Samsung has launched so far. The Galaxy Buds 2 share a lot with them and at $150, are also $50 cheaper. Those who can part with the 360-degree audio will find it to be a better option. They'll also appreciate the fact that the Galaxy Buds 2 are Samsung's lightest and smallest wireless earbuds yet.
