Samsung seems to be preparing to launch a new pair of Galaxy Buds, following FCC approval. The company recently released the U-shaped Galaxy Buds On in Korea, but those don't match the new model spotted at the FCC.
Instead, the mystery earbuds seem to fit the model we exclusively uncovered earlier this summer.
Internally, Samsung called them “Buds Canal 5,” but FCC documents also point to the T1 codename through references such as “T1 Cable” and “T1 Project.” They seem to match the ear hook design we saw a few months ago.

Galaxy Buds Canal 5/T1 FCC testing
The model number designated for the Buds Canal 5/T1 is SM-R545. So even though these earbuds may have an unusual ear hook design, Samsung still considers them a part of the traditional Galaxy Buds series.
Conversely, Samsung uses model numbers based on the letter “U” for wearables such as the Galaxy Buds On and the upcoming Galaxy Studio, the latter of which we also exclusively uncovered a couple of months ago.
In closing, to put things into perspective, here's an overview of Samsung's Galaxy audio lineup and what might be coming next:
Samsung likely has other names in mind for the Buds Canal 5 earbuds once they're ready for the market, but for now, it's anyone's guess. We'll keep you posted.
