Samsung Wallet has become one of the world's most popular mobile payment platforms, particularly among Galaxy phone users. However, features like Tap & Pay aren't available across the entire Galaxy phone lineup due to hardware limitations.
With the launch of the new Galaxy M16 5G in India, Samsung is lifting those hardware limitations and bringing the Wallet's Tap & Pay feature to the budget segment for the first time.
Sadly, the Galaxy M06 5G — which was also announced yesterday — doesn't support the feature because the phone lacks NFC connectivity.
The Galaxy M16 5G, on the other hand, has NFC and is the first M budget phone in the low-cost segment with Tap & Pay support. This feature will allow Galaxy M16 5G users to make secure and fast payments from their mobile phones at points of sale.
The Galaxy M16 5G starts at INR 11,499 ($132) and has 4GB of RAM along with 128GB of storage. The official launch date is March 5, so mark your calendar if you've been waiting for an opportunity to buy a Samsung Wallet Tap & Pay-capable phone on a budget.
