A lot of information has trickled down about the Galaxy M23 of late, including its colour variants and tentative specifications. Now, its Google Play Console listing (via MySmartPrice) gives us a deeper insight into what the 5G-ready smartphone could have in store for us.
The Galaxy M23 will pack some decent hardware for a budget smartphone
Multiple leaks have predicted that the Galaxy M23 will run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC. Its Google Play Console listing agrees with the speculation, essentially confirming that it will be powered by the SoC. That should, on paper, allow the smartphone to outperform most offerings from competitors at that price point.
Other Galaxy M23 specs highlighted by the listing include an FHD+ (1,080 x 2,480) screen and 6 GB of RAM. Interestingly enough, the part that shows the Android build seems to have been cropped. However, it would be reasonable to assume that it will run Android 12 customised with One UI 4.0 out of the box.
Given the significant upgrade in the SoC, Samsung may have to cut other corners to make the Galaxy M23 as affordable as its predecessor. Some components, such as the camera sensor and battery, could be reused. Despite the compromises, the Galaxy M23 should make for a decent low-cost 5G smartphone for the masses.
As far as the Galaxy M23 release date is concerned, we can expect it to drop sometime in the coming weeks. We should get to see more of it on certification websites as its launch date nears.
