Samsung has released a new software update to two Galaxy M series phones: Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M53. Both these phones are now getting the August 2023 security update. The update is available in South Asian countries for the Galaxy M31 and Latin American countries for the Galaxy M53.
The latest software update for the Galaxy M31 comes with firmware version M315FXXU3CWH2 in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The new update for the Galaxy M53 comes bearing firmware version M536BXXS4CWG9 in Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Panama, and Peru. Both phones get the August 2023 security patch with their respective updates. It fixes over 70 security flaws found in previous software versions.
If you have a Galaxy M31 or Galaxy M53 in any of the countries mentioned above, you can now check for the new software update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy M31 in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The phone received the Android 11 update in early 2021 and the Android 12 update in early 2022. The Galaxy M53 went official in April 2022 with Android 12 onboard. It received the Android 13 update in late 2022. While the Galaxy M31 won't get Android OS updates anymore, the Galaxy M53 will get three more Android OS updates.
