Last week, Samsung released a software update to the Galaxy Note 20 5G that offered the October 2024 security patch. Back then, the company made it available in Europe. Now, the brand has released the update in the United States as well.
Samsung is rolling out the update to the factory-unlocked as well as the carrier-unlocked variants of the Galaxy Note 20 5G, which have model numbers SM-N981U1 and SM-N981U respectively. The update for the former carries firmware version N981U1UESAHXJ1 and that for the latter has firmware version N981USQSAHXJ1.
The October 2024 security patch fixes 42 security issues. You can read more about the latest security update here. Expect Samsung to expand the latest software update to other variants of the device and in other regions soon. To get the update, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download the new firmware from our database and install it on your smartphone manually using Odin on a Windows PC.
