We're only a couple of months away from the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2 launch. Owing to the ongoing pandemic, it's highly unlikely that the company will conduct a full-fledged launch event. Earlier reports have suggested that Samsung's next flagship smartphones will be launched entirely online.
A new report out of South Korea claims that Samsung has decided on a date for the online launch of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2. As expected, both devices are likely going to be unveiled in the first week of August.
Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 will get an online launch
The report claims that Samsung is going to conduct an online event for the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2 on August 5. Internal discussions are reportedly being held regarding the event and the plan to hold the event online is being viewed favorably.
The current global situation will definitely make it very difficult to hold a massive Unpacked event like Samsung does every year for its flagship launches. Its Unpacked events are attended by thousands who pack into a venue. Travel restrictions are still in place in many countries across the globe which will make it difficult for people to come to New York. Furthermore, a lot of people may not even be willing to travel in these uncertain times out of concerns for their health and safety.
It does seem highly unlikely at this point in time that Samsung would be able to conduct an in-person event come August. The Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the Galaxy Fold 2 are most likely going to be unveiled online. Samsung's regional offices may conduct smaller events for members of the media in order to get the word out about these devices.
Samsung has still not confirmed what its Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 launch plans are. We don't think it will come as a surprise when it ultimately announces that the event will be held online.
