Earlier this week, Samsung released the July 2023 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 series in Europe. Now, the South Korean firm has started rolling out the new security update to the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US.
Galaxy Note 20 July 2023 security update: What's new?
The latest software update for the carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra bears firmware version N98xUSQS4HWF5. The update has been released in the US, and it will be available on all carrier networks over the next few days. The update brings the July 2023 security patch that fixes over 90 security vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the software. It doesn't bring new features or performance improvements.
If you have a carrier-locked version of Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US, you can check for the new update right now. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. However, you would need a computer running the Windows operating system and the Odin software.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 20 series as the last Galaxy Note device lineup ever. The devices debuted with Android 10 onboard and received the Android 11 update in late 2020. Samsung released the Android 12 update to them in late 2021 and the Android 13 update in late 2022.
