The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra completed four years on the market last month, which meant it was time for the three phones to stop receiving regular security updates.
In fact, the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra were supposed to stop receiving updates altogether after four years, but Samsung decided to extend the support lifeline by only downgrading them to a quarterly update schedule.
That's good news for anyone who owns those phones, but for those who own a Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, or Galaxy S20 FE, it may have come as a surprise that Samsung downgraded their phones to a quarterly schedule as well, even though those devices launched six months after the OG Galaxy S20 lineup.
Well, it appears that was an error. Samsung has now put the Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, and S20 FE back on a monthly schedule on its security bulletin website. They should remain on that schedule for another six months, following which we can expect them to start receiving security updates once every three months.
The Note 20 duo and the Galaxy S20 FE are currently on the March security update in most markets and should receive the April update sometime later this month. The Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra are on the March firmware as well, and while they may get the April update this month in some markets, most users may not see a new update for the next three months.
