The Galaxy Note 8 has become the second Note series smartphone to get the latest security patch. After rolling out the August 2021 security update to the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Fold 5G, and the Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung has released it to the Galaxy Note 8.
The new software update for the Galaxy Note 8 is now rolling out in Spain and the UK. It has firmware version N950FXXSGDUG6 and includes the August 2021 security patch that fixes 40 vulnerabilities related to data security and user privacy. It doesn't introduce new features or user-facing changes but might include general bug fixes and device stability improvements.
If you are a Galaxy Note 8 user in Spain or the UK, you can download the update right away by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install on your smartphone. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. The update could reach more markets over the next few days.
The Galaxy Note 8 was launched in September 2017 with Android 7.1.1 onboard. The phone has received two major Android OS updates since its launch: Android 8.0 and Android 9.
