Samsung is now rolling out the One UI 6.0 update for the Galaxy S23 series. As you probably heard, the beta program concluded, and the company is giving Galaxy S23 customers the stable One UI 6.0 update based on Android 14. The release is gradual, but it will eventually reach every S23 user.
Until that happens, Samsung has decided to stalk up some of its clever Camera and Gallery features. Some of these features already exist and don't require One UI 6.0, but many have also been updated, enhanced, or relocated. And with One UI 6.0 reaching more customers, now's as good a time as ever for an overview.

Samsung highlights One UI's Camera and Gallery toolset for mobile photography enthusiasts under three categories: intelligent capture, personalization, and editing. Here's all you need to know.
Make the best out of your Camera and Gallery apps
In its latest press release, the Korean tech giant brings up no fewer than twelve Camera and Gallery tools and features, as well as changes to companion apps like Expert RAW, Camera Assistant, and Enhance-X. Here's what you can enjoy in One UI 6.0.
Enhance-X
- Sky Guide: You can point the camera at the sky, capture a photo, and use the Sky Guide feature to analyze the image using AI and see what constellations you captured.
- Clean Lens: If you capture your finger in a photo, you can remove it through the clever AI powering the Clear Lens feature.
- Single Take: This feature is now coming to Enhance-X, allowing you to apply Single Take to live motion images that have already been captured.
- Long Exposure: This feature analyzes videos shorter than 60 seconds and automatically detects which scene needs the long exposure effect.
AI Customization
- Image Clipper: This Gallery feature lets you tap and hold a subject in a photo to crop it perfectly and create new stickers.
- AI Edits: This Gallery feature lets users access edit functions for photos, including 24-hour timelapse, portrait effect, object eraser, picture/GIF remastering, and background effect changes.
Improved scanning
- Scan documents and text: With One UI 6.0, scan options for documents and texts have been separated from Scene Optimizer, meaning you can access these useful tools even when the Scene Optimizer is turned off.
- Improved QR scan: Samsung has minimized the QR scanning pop-up box to allow you to take photos or scan documents while the pop-up is open.
New personalization options
- Improved story thumbnails: When you view a Story inside the Gallery app in One UI 6.0, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the thumbnail view, where you can add or remove content from the Gallery Story.
- Custom Camera Widget: With One UI 6.0, users can add more camera widgets for different shooting modes to the home screen.
- Separate resolutions from aspect ratios: In the latest One UI 6.0 update, high-resolution options for the Camera app are separated from aspect ratio settings.
- Pop-up Style Video Size: Video size options in One UI 6.0 are now presented in a pop-up window, which makes it easier to adjust video settings.
- Expert RAW: The existing Expert RAW app is getting a new AI ND filter in One UI 6.0, which lets you capture long exposure shots in bright environments.
- Camera Assistant: Users can enable or disable image upscaling for digitally zoomed 50MP or 200MP photos.
Photo Capture and Editing
- Camera Horizontal Level Line: In addition to Grid Lines, users can now enable a horizontal level line when shooting photos with the rear camera.
- Photo Editor Layout: One UI 6.0 brings a new Tools layout, which includes the most-used editing tools such as Face Effects, Object Eraser, Spot Color, Style, and Color Mix. In addition, the Straighten and Perspective options are now found in the same Transform menu.
- Photo Editor Undo/Redo: The undo and redo functions in Photo Editor now work with transformations, filters, and tones.
These features and improvements will be coming to Galaxy phones and tablets eligible for Android 14 and One UI 6. Some of the features will require an update to specific apps, such as Galaxy Enhance-X, before they can be used, and we will let you know once those app updates start rolling out.
