During the ongoing MWC 2023 expo, Google announced a few new features for Android smartphones and tablets, Wear OS-based smartwatches, and ChromeOS-based laptops. However, most of these new features are not platform-level upgrades. Instead, these are updates to Google's products and technologies.
Google Keep gets a new widget on Galaxy smartphones and shortcuts on Galaxy smartwatches
The Google Keep app is getting a new single-note widget that can display your notes or to-do lists, complete with colored backgrounds or images. It will also be synced with Wear OS smartwatches such as the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series. Google Keyboard is getting more emoji kitchen options for basketball.
Google Wallet is getting new animations for payments in stores. Google Chrome web browser now offers up to 300% text size without breaking page layouts.
Google Drive is getting Samsung Notes-like PDF annotation and signing features
You can also use a stylus like the S Pen on your Galaxy S23 Ultra to annotate or sign PDFs using the Google Drive app. The annotation system offers various pens and stroke widths so that you can write, highlight text, or sign on PDF files. You can hide, undo, redo, or save your annotations into a new file.
The Google Keep app is getting two new shortcuts on Wear OS smartwatches to create notes and to-do lists. Mono Audio on Wear OS smartwatches can help limit split-audio-related disorientation, while color-correction and grayscale modes will offer better visuals for the visually impaired.
Galaxy Chromebooks are getting Google's Fast pair feature for wireless earbuds
Samsung's Galaxy Chromebooks will be able to quickly pair with compatible wireless earbuds and headphones with Google's Fast Pair feature. Google Meet offers noise cancellation on ChromeOS-powered laptops such as the Galaxy Chromebook.
