Last week, when the June 2023 security update rolled out for the Galaxy S20 series, we explained there will be a separate firmware release for the Galaxy S20 FE. Thankfully, S20 FE users didn't have to wait for long.
Samsung has just opened the June 2023 floodgates upon the Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G781B). The company is now rolling out this month's security patch for the Galaxy S20 FE in dozens of countries across Europe. The list includes Nordic Countries, Italy, Romania, Switzerland, Poland, Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany, and the list keeps on going.
The June 2023 update is spreading like wildfire
You can check out our firmware page for more details on where the June 2023 update is available for the Galaxy S20 FE. And on the same page, you can also download the official firmware files for your Galaxy S20 FE if you prefer manual updates over a Windows PC.
Otherwise, you can check if the new update is available for your Galaxy S20 FE by opening the Settings app on the phone, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” Look for firmware version G781BXXU6HWE6.
It's not entirely clear what new features and/or enhancements accompany the June 2023 security patch, but the “U” letter in the firmware number indicates that the update should contain more than improved security. Samsung released the Image Clipper feature for the S20 FE in April, so we're unsure what other novelties the phone may have gotten through this new update. We'll let you know if we find out more.
