Galaxy S20 FE gets May 2024 security update in the USA

The carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S20 FE has started getting the May 2024 security update. The new software comes bearing firmware version G781USQSGHXE2 and is available on Metro PCS and T-Mobile networks. It is a relatively small software update and doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements.

The May 2024 security patch fixes around four dozen newly discovered security vulnerabilities. If you have a Galaxy S20 FE and live in the US, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install.

If you have a Galaxy S20 FE and want to upgrade to a newer phone, have a look at the Galaxy S23 FE in our video below.

If you are well-versed in the manual firmware flashing process, you can download the appropriate firmware file for your Galaxy S20 FE from our firmware database and flash it manually. For that process, you will need access to a computer running Windows OS and the Odin tool installed.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE in the second half of 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The phone received the Android 11 update in late 2020, the Android 12 update in late 2021, and the Android 13 update in late 2022. It is ineligible to get the Android 14 (or newer) updates. However, it will continue to get security updates for another year.
