Samsung has released the July 2023 security update to the Galaxy S20 series in several regions, including Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S23 have already received the newest security updates from Samsung over the past couple of weeks.
Where is the July 2023 security update rolling out to the Galaxy S20 series?
The latest software update for the LTE versions of the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ come bearing firmware versions G98xFXXUHHWF1 and G98xFXXSIHWF7 in Latin America. The 5G versions of Galaxy S20 series phones are getting the new update with firmware version G98xBXXSIHWF7 in Latin America. In Asia and Europe, the 5G versions of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra come with firmware version G98xBXXSIHWF6.
As Samsung explained earlier in its security bulletin, the July 2023 security patch fixes over 90 security vulnerabilities that were found in the previous versions of the software. All the Galaxy S20 series phones are getting minor updates, so don't expect them to get any new features or performance improvements.
If you have a Galaxy S20 series phone in any of the countries or regions mentioned above, you can now check for the new update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update on your phone and then tap on Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a computer running the Windows operating system and the Odin software.
