Earlier this month, Samsung released the June 2023 security update to the Galaxy S20 series in Europe. Now, the company has expanded the availability of the new security update to Galaxy S20 units in the US. Right now, the unlocked models of the phones are getting the update in the country.
The latest software update for the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra comes bearing firmware version G981U1UES5HWE1 in the US. The update brings the June 2023 security patch that fixes over 60 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets in the previous software version. Almost all network carriers in the US have made the update available on their networks.
Galaxy S20 June 2023 security update: How to install?
If you have a Galaxy S20 series phone (unlocked version), you can now check for the new update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also flash the firmware manually, and to do that, you have to download the newest firmware file from our firmware database and use the Odin tool on a Windows PC. Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The phones in the lineup received the Android 11 update in late 2020, the Android 12 update in late 2021, and the Android 13 update in late 2022. It won't get any major Android OS updates in the future.
