Samsung is rolling out the August 2024 security update to the Galaxy S20 series. The Fan Edition Galaxy S20 model got the update earlier this week, and it's now available for the original Galaxy S20 trio—the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra—as well.
The first country to get the Galaxy S20 August update is Switzerland, and given the critical nature of this update, Samsung will likely push it to other countries soon.
The August security patch fixes a serious vulnerability discovered in Android a couple of months ago that allowed attackers easy unauthorized access to devices. It also fixes 49 other vulnerabilities, a majority of which affect all Android devices and a few pose a risk only to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The latest update for the Galaxy S20 series can be identified by a build number ending in the letters HXG1. It is available over the air and can be downloaded from the phone's Settings » Software update menu.
Alternatively, you can download the latest Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra firmware from SamMobile and install it on the phone using a Windows PC and a USB cable.
